To ensure incident free annual Amarnath pilgrimage, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had deployed 67 companies of paramilitary troops during this year’s 59-day yatra.

“67 companies including female troopers were deployed for the security of yatra convoys from Jammu to Pahalgam and Baltal besides providing security on both the routes. All the base/transit camps of yatra were provided security by the CRPF, starting from Bhagwati nagar in Jammu to Holy Cave,” a spokesman of CRPF said in a statement.

The CRPF, which is the nodal agency to provide security to Amarnath yatra, ensured that not a single incident of militant act occurs.

“Despite serious threats of terrorist strikes and apprehensions of disturbances, CRPF ensured providing security cover to all pilgrims and locals during the pilgrimage. The Force also portrayed their noble visage while acting suo-motu, when incidents of cloud bursts occurred during pilgrimage,” he said.

“CRPF also presented the humane face by providing medical facilities to pilgrims and locals from their own resources. The CRPF arranged 14 medical camps on the routes of yatra in which more than 28500 pilgrims and locals were provided treatment,” the spokesman added.
