Upset over her husband’s worsening health condition, a 35-year-old woman drowned her three children in a lake at Moodanahalli near Javagal and threw herself into it on Sunday night.
The deceased have been identified as Chandramma (35), Rakshit (4), Keshav (2) and Baby (1). Police said, Chandramma took the extreme step as she was unable to bear the sight of her husband Puttabhovi suffering from a leg injury that had turned gangrenous.
Chandramma took her five children (four daughters and a son) to Moodanahalli lake to commit suicide. However, two of her daughters, Radha (8) and Hemavathy (6), escaped and reached their village to inform people about what their mother had done. But by the time the villagers rushed to their rescue, all the four had drowned.
The Javagal police visited the spot and retrieved the bodies which were shifted for postmortem to JC Hospital in Arsikere.
