Health scheme likely for pvt school teachers

Speaking after inaugurating ‘Guruvandana Samaramba- 2015’ and the district-level teachers’ day celebrations at Vokkaliga Gowda Samudhaya Bhavana at Tenkila in Puttur on Saturday, said, “In Gurukula system of education only rich people could get education. But today the compulsory education policy, has made education affordable to all sections of the society.

He meanwhile called upon teachers to perform their duty irrespective of caste or community factors.

“Schools need basic amenities. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) helped schools develop, but Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) should be more beneficial.  The problems of teachers should be discussed in the Assembly than in media. Also counseling system should be followed in the process of transfer of teachers,” the minister opined.

Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said students with value-based education are assets of the nation. There should be acute quality education and students should develop positive image for the district. They should understand the value of cultural heritage and retain it. 

MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik felt, “Only education system can initaite valuable changes in the society and bring awareness about patriotism, law and other issues among students.
District Primary Teachers’ Association president Shivashankar Bhat demanded that the government should consider transferring husband and spouse to the same institution.

“The Jyoti Sanjeevini health scheme should be extended to the teachers of aided schools as well. A sports policy should be implemented in the state and physical education teachers should be appointed to every school. There should be a salary structure for primary school head masters and deputy principals should be appointed to high schools,” he urged.

Honours

The district-level ‘Best teacher award’ was conferred on 12 teachers including K K Pejavar from Kulai, T Seethalaxmi from Babbukatte, Norbert Pereira from Anegudde, Sharada B from Huhaakuvakallu (Bantwal), Aboobakkar B from Belthangady, Hanumanthappa K from Puttige, Padma D from Mandekolu, Sevanti from Falnir, Savitri K from Urwa, R Rajkumar from Moodbidri, Santhosh Kumar T N from Montepadau and Ulahannan P M from Nelyadi.

Meanwhile, six teachers who were honoured with National, State or district awards in the year 2014-15 were felicitated. A total of 40 retired teachers from the taluk and 14 teachers who had won prizes in various competitions were felicitated on the occasion.

Minister, U T Khader  said that there is proposal before the government to extend the Jyothi Sanjeevini Health Insurance Scheme, which has been implemented for the state government workers, to teachers of aided and unaided education institutions. Speaking at the teachers’ day celebrations organized by Mangaluru South Zone at St Sebastian Hall in Bendoor on Saturday, he said that the dept of health is ready for the extension of the pension scheme, however, it is waiting for a formal proposal from the primary and secondary education department. The matter has been discussed with the concerned Minister Kimmane Rathnakar, he said. 

Puttur MLA Shakunthala Shetty, Zilla Panchayat president Asha Timmappa Gowda, CEO P I Sreevidya, DDPI Walter D’Mellow, BEO G S Shashidhar, TP president Pulasya Rai, DIET Principal Cyprian Montero were present among others.
