However, the situation is not the same in many other engineering colleges. Not a single company has visited these colleges. But the students are not sitting idle. They are trying their luck outside campus. Metrolife visited some engineering colleges in the City and spoke to students to understand the reality of campus recruitment.

Right now, placements are going on in our college and I don’t think it is a hype. Those who passed campus interviews are getting offer letters but the date of joining is not mentioned. Last year also, most of our seniors got offer letters but the date of joining was not mentioned and the recruiters didn’t get back to them. This year, nearly 80 per cent of my batchmates are recruited in different companies. It’s good that all the eligible candidates are getting job offers.

Campus recruitment is going on and most of our seniors are already placed in big firms. This time, mass recruiting by leading companies turned out into a boon for them. It’s good that 90 per cent of our seniors are already recruited. Hence, we feel that we are on the safer side and our future will not be affected by recession again.

To be frank, campus recruitment is not happening in our college right now. As it is just the beginning of the semester, our seniors are hopeful about recruitment. The college management is making sincere efforts to train students in soft communication skills. Most of my seniors are trying their luck outside campus and are managing to get jobs. If the trend continues, every eligible candidate can fulfill their dream of getting jobs.

Campus recruitment is going on in our college. The rush of multinational companies for recruitment commenced nearly a year back when we were in the sixth semester. Some of my friends and I have been placed in reputed companies. The temporary offer letters are enough for us to feel proud and secure about ourselves. Last year, only a few companies visited the campus but now the number has swelled up to 30.

Harsha T V, New Horizon College of Engineering
“Not a single company visited our college so far and we are looking forward to a quite good number of recruiters this semester. Our college intimated us that two to three big companies will be coming to the campus this week. We are busy preparing to excel in campus tests. Recession had worsened the lives of engineering students but now the job market is slowly recovering and we are hoping for the best. If the recruiters don't come, placements will be just a hype.

Meghana Vasisht, RV College of Engineering

At the beginning of the semester, we were anxious about our careers. But, as luck would have it, the situation has changed and many companies are visiting our college. I got recruited in a leading company five months back and my friends are also placed in good companies. After recession, the job market is rising in a big way. Hence, we are optimistic about our future.
