<p>The State government will soon effect a multi-fold hike in the honorarium being paid to non-official chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of statutory boards and corporations.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The monthly honorarium paid to non-official chairpersons of statutory corporations and boards has been increased four times from Rs 9,000 to Rs 40,000 while the hike is three fold for vice-chairpersons from Rs 9,000 to Rs 30,000 per month.<br /><br />There are nearly 80 statutory boards and corporations in the State. The non-official chairpersons and vice-chairpersons are political appointees. The appointees had recently complained to chief minister Siddaramaiah that their remuneration was too low. The hike will come into force from October 1.<br /><br /> In addition, the house rent allowance for chairpersons of boards and corporations in Bengaluru limits has been increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 per month and for non-Bengaluru region from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000. <br /><br />For the first time, non-official chairpersons will get a one-time furniture grant of Rs 30,000 while the amount for vice-chairpersons has been fixed at Rs 20,000. The hike will cost the exchequer an additional burden of Rs 1.5 crore per month, sources in the finance department said.<br /></p>
