Vehicle smashes man's head popping out of bus window

In a freak accident, a young man commuting by a BMTC bus was killed after his head, which was protruding out of the bus’ window, was crushed by another passing bus on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Mysore Road in Byatarayanapura traffic police station limits.

The victim was Kiran, 25, a farmer and a resident of Gadigenadaddi near Manchinabele dam in Ramanagar district. The accident occurred around 11 am when the bus was moving on a bridge in Bapujinagar, off Mysore Road, said the police.

Kiran had boarded the BMTC to go to City Market. He was sitting on a window side seat and was fast asleep. Kiran’s head was partially outside the open window. The driver of another bus, that was following the BMTC bus, attempted to overtake it. Kiran suffered massive head injuries after the front portion of the other bus hit his head. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival, said the police.

Young woman killed
In another incident, a private hospital employee was killed on the spot at Seetha Circle near Girinagar on Friday morning after she was mowed down by a bike. The victim Manjula M, 32, was a resident of Brindavan Nagar in Hanumanthnagar.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 9.15 pm when she was crossing the road.

A two-wheeler rider rode his bike recklessly and collided with Manjula. She was tossed into the air, fell down and suffered massive injuries. A few local residents rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead, added the police.

Manjula was working with Vinayaka Hospital at Seetha Circle and was on her way to work.

The body was handed over to her family members after a post mortem at KIMS. She is survived by two children, said the police. The bike rider, Balaji, 24, a private firm employee, was arrested. He has been booked under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 (a) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
