Counter to terror will be merciless, says French envoy

The French embassy in India condemns the terror attacks in Paris and France’s response will be “merciless”, François Richier, Ambassador of France to India, said in a post  on the Facebook page of the French Consulate in Bengaluru.

The consulate said it will hold a solidarity meeting on Monday.

Richier said in the post, “Yesterday, 13 November, Paris and its vicinity were struck by several terrorist attacks of an unprecedented scale. The number of casualties is not yet confirmed, but more than 120 innocent people were brutally murdered and 200 injured.”

No Indians among dead
The French official also said that no Indian national has been identified among the casualties. An information phone line for tourists and visitors in Paris has been established: +33 (0) 1 45 55 80 00. Indian Embassy in Paris: +33 (0) 1 40 50 70 70.

The consulate said that security measures at French diplomatic and institutional premises are being beefed up.

“We thank the Indian Central and State authorities for their collaboration. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.  The French Embassy is deeply grateful for the support the from Indian citizens,” it added.
