As one of the key weight-bearing joints of the body, we often do not give our knees the attention they deserve. It is only when they give in to the persistent stress and start hurting, that we notice them.

Like for 65-year-old Rajammal, life had turned into an ordeal from the day she was diagnosed with knee arthritis two years ago. She was unable to walk and perform daily activities. This started taking a toll on her mental health, eventually leading to depression.

Her family physician recommended total knee replacement, advising her to consult a joint replacement surgeon. However, like millions of patients around the world with arthritis, she was not convinced about the benefits of surgery and refused to go under the knife.
After being persuaded by her family and doctor, Rajammal finally decided to undergo surgery. She underwent knee replacement with the help of the novel Triathlon (X3) GetAroundKnee technology. It has helped over a million patients across the world to lead a better life and achieve improved mobility.

Knee replacements in India have seen a new leap with the launch of the Triathlon system. Its unique design with patented ‘single radius knee’ has a proven track record, with well-established clinical data spanning over 20 years. Studies have shown that Triathlon patients recover faster, experience lesser pain, better stability and a long-lasting implant.

The implant is based on a philosophy that mimics the knee’s natural circular motion and enables patients to experience a natural knee-like movement, post-surgery. Due to natural knee-like movement, the patients experience higher stability and a smooth motion during activities such as climbing or descending stairs, changing from brake to accelerator while driving and standing up from the sitting position. Not only are these movements more smooth and efficient, but also require less effort from knee ligaments, thereby putting less stress on the knee joint.

In spite of her earlier apprehensions, Rajammal was very satisfied with her surgery results. Her wound healed well, and she was able to walk independently, within three weeks after the surgery. So, like Rajammal it is now time to stop suffering.

Knee replacement surgery needn’t be a painful choice. Explore novel surgical options to get relief from painful joints and get back to life with a smile.
