A pedestrian was killed on the spot after a Volvo bus belonging to the BMTC ran him over near Kundalahalli Gate bus stop on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Bheemaiah, 45, a resident of ACES Layout.
The accident occurred when he was crossing the road near Hyper City close to Kundalahalli Gate bus stop.
The bus driver failed to control the bus and mowed down Bheemaiah.
He fell down and came under the wheel and died on the spot due to massive injuries, said the police.
The bus driver absconded, abandoning the bus on the spot.
The police have seized the bus, said the police.
Locals protest
A few local residents staged a protest in front of the police station seeking the immediate arrest of the driver and also measures to end accidents in the locality.
They withdrew the protest after being assured by the police that their demands would be fulfilled.
