Movies claiming to be based on real life incidents are alluring not just for the audience but actors as well. No wonder Priyanka Upendra grabbed the offer to act in Dinesh Baboo’s ‘Priyanka’. The movie draws its essence from a real life incident that happened in the City two years ago.

It was the way the murder was planned and the investigation reports that followed that prompted the makers to probe further and see if it could be made into a movie, adding, of course a couple of fictional elements to it.

And Priyanka’s role in the film holds a lot of significance because her change of emotions literally show the way to solving the case but ironically it still remains unsolved. “I play a modern role and there are many interesting moments in the film. This is the first time I’ve acted in a crime-drama, and it’s been a brilliant experience so far,” says Priyanka. The Bengali beauty looks absolutely stunning in this movie. Has she been working on her looks for this particular film? “A lot of people asked me if I consciously lost a lot of weight just for the film but I did nothing. I naturally lost some weight before the shooting and that has come as an advantage in this film,” says Priyanka.

However, she concedes that the movie has been an emotionally draining process but adds, in the same tone, that she’s thrilled she has been able to live up to the challenge. “The role required me to depict an array of emotions and I had to switch emotions pretty fast which was indeed challenging,” she says.

While the movie is largely written and shot around a family-centric subject, Priyanka says that the movie depicts some of the problems and issues young couples face in their marriages today. “There are more number of married women working today as compared to earlier times. Women have become more independent and don’t really financially depend either on their parents and in case they are married, on their spouses. What women yearn for is companionship which most of them don’t get in a relationship,” she reasons.

She elaborates that the movie brings to the fore a lot of strong emotions because it is drawn from a real incident and all the people depicted in the story are still alive and living somewhere. “The narration is strong and has done well not to hurt anybody’s sentiments. The different elements in the movie totally satiate one’s curiosity and offer enough drama to keep the audience entertained,” she reasons.

The film also features actor Prakash Raj in a prominent role and young actor Tejas is the surprise element in the film.
