Nasscom Foundation, Aricent team up

Aricent,  a US-based product engineering firm which has presence in India, on Tuesday announced its partnership with the Nasscom Foundation to launch a skilling programme for engineering graduates.

Aricent Employability Programme, a unique corporate social responsibility initiative, plans to create greater employability opportunities for 2,500 engineering graduates.

According to Nasscom Foundation CEO Shrikant Sinha, the on-campus programme will equip students in select cities and colleges with skills in specialised areas in software development and testing.

“It will enable them to find employment in the IT-BPM industry. The candidates will be assessed on the NDSC-SSC Nasscom Qualification Parameters and certified on the relevant job role,” he said.

The undergraduate students for this programme will be trained across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi NCR, and Rajasthan. According to Aricent Director (Engineering) the programme will train students in oral, written communication skills, problem solving, time management, customer orientation, and other soft skills.

Nasscom Foundation has identified iPRIMED and Global Talent Track to train on-campus skill development, both online and in classrooms.Nasscom Karnataka ‎Regional Head Ashok Pamidi said the IT-BPM industry demands highly skilled manpower by 2020. “We have the highest number of engineering graduates and the industry currently employs about 2.5 million every year. The industry might employ more than 5.5 million and its size will reach $225 billion by the end of 2020. So here we need to skill  students and the new initiative will impact tier-2 and tier-3 cities.”
