Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Saturday, said, the government is drafting a new sand policy to facilitate the use of manufactured sand (M-sand) in construction activities.
Addressing a gathering, during the launch of the poll campaign here, the chief minister said, the existing sand policy is being simplified to enable the manufacturing of M-sand, in view of the demand.
The chief minister said, in the existing scenario, the State is able to get only 12 million tonne of sand against the demand for 23 million tonne. So, the thrust will be on manufacturing sand from crusher stone.
The chief minister also promised to initiate action against those who have been smuggling sand outside the State.
