The state BJP has filed a complaint against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with the Election Commission on the grounds that he has violated the model code of conduct.

In a complaint lodged on Monday, BJP MLA S Suresh Kumar said that Siddaramaiah, under the scheme Hosa Belaku, has distributed LED bulbs on December 11, in Mysuru. This, he did even when the model code of conduct is in place. This is nothing but to woo voters for the Council elections, he added.

Kumar said that the Centre, under Prakasha Patha scheme, has been distributing LED bulbs each at Rs 10. Lakhs of bulbs are being sold in many states. The same scheme has been rechristened in Karnataka and launched by the chief minister keeping the elections in view, he said.
