Congress to protest against 'vendetta politics'

 The State unit of the Congress party will stage a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Saturday, the day Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi will appear before a Delhi court in connection with the National Herald case. 

Party workers led by KPCC president and Home minister G Parameshwara will hold a protest condemning what the party has termed ‘vendetta politics of the Union government’. The party is planning to burn an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As many as 4,000 party workers are likely to take part in the protest, Congress MLA from Yeshwanthpura S T Somashekar has said.

The party has directed all its district units across Karnataka to stage protests on the issue. The district unit presidents will lead the protests. All elected representatives of the party, including MLAs and MLCs, have been asked to participate in the protest in their respective districts.

Convention

KPCC will organise a convention of gram panchayat members who have identified themselves with the party, taluk panchayat members, ZP members, counsellors and corporators of the party on Friday at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru. The convention has been organised as part of the party's campaign for upcoming the Legislative Council polls.
