They pedalled for healthier lifestyle at midnight

More than 70 cyclists from Mangaluru participated in the midnight ride covering a distance of 32 km in the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday. The ride was organised by the Mangalore Bicycle Club.

From 12 year-old Ashur Khader to 65-year-old Ashoka Vardhana, all participated in the ride enthusiastically.

Actor Raksha Shenoy and model Vardhan Pai flagged off the midnight ride by riding bicycles from the city corporation office building in Lal Bagh towards Kuloor.
 
The ride was organised to enjoy cycling with an objective of leading a healthier lifestyle. Through this night ride, the club also wanted to send the message of safe and enjoyable cycling in the city.

From Lal Bagh, the riders pedalled to Kuloor on NH 66 and then took a U-turn after crossing the Kuloor Bridge and proceeded towards Chilimbi-Mannagudda-MG Road- PVS Junction before moving towards Kadri Hills. After pedalling a few hundred meters on NH 66, the riders entered the city via Kadri Park and joined near Bejai Market.

The next destination was Hampanakatta and then, Fr Muller Hospital where they regrouped again. From Fr Muller Road, they took a narrow road in Babugudda to join the Attavar main road and later concluded the ride at the starting point.

At the end of the ride, cyclist Donald Menezes cut the cake and distributed it among the fellow riders.

Mangalore Bicycle Club members Ganesh Nayak, Kishan Bangera, Shyamprasad Nayak, Prashanth Marla, Anand Prabhu, Vernon Saldanha, Nishant Chand, Smitha Rao, Nitya Bhat, Chintan Shah,  Zahir Manippady and others guided the fellow riders.
