Rs 1,540-cr input subsidy for farmers

 The State government on Sunday released Rs 1,540 crore to be distributed to drought-affected farmers, who have incurred crop loss, as input subsidy.

The money has been distributed to 25 drought-affected districts.

The district administrations will take measures to distribute the input subsidy to farmers as per the guidelines of National Disaster Relief Fund (NRDF).

The Centre had recently sanctioned the funds to the State in order to provide relief to the drought-affected farmers, according to an official release.

Belagavi district has been given the highest amount with Rs 241.50 crore, followed by Kalaburagi with Rs 197.55 crore and Vijayapura with Rs 115.49 crore.

The State government had sought a total of Rs 2,278.19 crore as assistance from the Centre to provide relief to the drought-affected farmers.
