Victim's bike stolen from accident spot

 A motorcycle that was involved in an accident, in which the rider was killed while the pillion rider was injured, was reportedly stolen from the accident spot. The incident took place near Coles Road and Netaji Road junction under Pulakeshi Nagar traffic police limits in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Karthik (25) while the pillion rider Nitin suffered minor injuries. They were residents of Vivek Nagar and were working as contract labourers.
Around 2 am, they were returning home after visiting their friend at Byappanahalli. Karthik, who was riding the bike, failed to negotiate a speed breaker as the bike skidded off the road.  Karthik, who was not wearing the helmet sustained serious head injuries while Nitin suffered minor injuries.

The passerby shifted the duo to a nearby hospital and informed the police about the incident. Karthik succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Nitin is undergoing treatment and is said to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, the police, who rushed to the accident spot, found the bike missing. A bike theft case has been registered in Pulakeshi Nagar police station.

A senior police officer said, “The postmortem report is awaited to ascertain if they (victims) were under the influence of alcohol. Also the bike was stolen from the spot and a case has been registered. The police are trying to obtain the CCTV footage to check on who stole the bike.”
