Last Updated 20 January 2016, 20:26 IST

Three women visited a jewellery shop on the pretext of buying gold ornaments and siphoned off two gold chains near Nagarbhavi Circle under the Jnanabharathi police limits on Tuesday.

According to the police, a woman, posing as a customer, visited Jayashree Jewellers and asked the staff to show her different patterns of gold chains. Even as the staff was showing her the designs, two other women walked into the shop and also enquired about gold chains.

When the staff got busy with the duo, the woman, who came in first, siphoned off a gold chain into her purse. She told the staff that she was not impressed with the designs and left the shop. In the meantime, the other two women also whisked another gold chain and told the staff that they would get back to them soon.

The staffer, later on, found that two gold chains weighing 50 grams each, were missing. He alerted the shop owner at the cash counter who checked the CCTV footage and found the women lifting the gold chains. A complaint has been lodged with the Jnanabharathi police, who are probing the incident.
