Last Updated 18 February 2016, 10:34 IST

The Delhi Police on Wednesday issued summons to three lawyers and BJP MLA O P Sharma over violence in the court on Monday.

Those summoned by the police include lawyer Vikram Chauhan who allegedly led a group of lawyers both on Monday and Wednesday.

Two separate FIRs have been filed over complaints by journalists and JNU students, but no arrest has been made even 48 hours after the assault.

The BJP MLA was seen beating up a CPI activist at the court, but the police are yet to initiate any action. Sharma has also filed a complaint claiming that he was hurt. A medical examination was done, but no serious injury was found.

On Wednesday, Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi also refused to give clean to JNU Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and former Delhi University professor S A R Geelani. But he said the police will not oppose any bail plea filed by the JNUSU president arrested for sedition.

However, till late night, Kanhaiya Kumar’s counsels hadn’t taken a decision on when to move court for his bail.

Reacting on the assault on Kanhaiya, Bassi said, “There was a lot of jostling when Kanhaiya was brought to the court. Even our officers faced difficulties as they had to wade through a strong crowd keeping Kanhaiya’s security in mind.” Kumar had identified two lawyers who attacked him in the court on Wednesday and possible action against the attackers is likely to be initiated soon.
