Lowe's Innovation Labs enters B'luru

Last Updated 18 February 2016, 16:56 IST

Lowe’s Innovation Labs, the disruptive innovation hub of US-based retail home improvement and appliance chain Lowe’s Companies on Thursday inaugurated its India centre in Bengaluru.

Only its third destination, across the globe, the City plays host to the first Lowe’s Innovation Labs (LIL) outside the US. The lab will house tech-savvy startups enabling them to put what they’ve innovated to practice.

LIL Executive Director Kyle Nel believes, “Non-liner problems cannot be solved without non-linear people. The lab is suited to enable collaboration between uncommon partners, who wouldn’t be able to work together in a natural setting.” Innovation at LIL draws inspiration from narratives that are created and purposed to inspire.

“We don’t build robots for the sake of robots. We draw inspiration from narratives written by science fiction writers, who are uniquely suited to think how tech trends and people trends converge,” he said.

With a capacity to house over 60 participants, LIL is gearing up to start its intensive 16-week accelerator programme. Participants for the programme will be screened based on their contribution to the narratives proposed by LIL.
