Last Updated 26 February 2016, 18:19 IST

In a bid to encourage small and medium businesses (SMBs) to enable technology, the world’s largest eCommerce platform Amazon has introduced a tatkal van, a top executive said on Friday.

“Amazon tatkal enables SMBs to get online and sell on Amazon.in, in less than 60 minutes. It is a free service,” Amazon India Seller Services (Director and GM) Gopal Pillai told Deccan Herald.

Amazon Tatkal is a specially designed studio-on-wheels offering a suite of launch services including registration, imaging and cataloguing services, as well as basic seller training mechanisms. It will enable thousands of interested sellers to start selling on Amazon.in real time, and experience the benefits of launching an online business.

In Bengaluru, Amazon Tatkal will be stationed at Chickpet (Saturday), SP Road (Monday), Avenue Road (Tuesday), and Commercial Street (Wednesday).

The van will traverse the entire country, engaging with thousands of entrepreneurs, artisans, manufacturers and sellers, and help them sell online on the spot. Trained representatives will educate sellers on the benefits of selling online.

Since its launch in June 2013 in India, Amazon has over 65,000 sellers on its platform.
Amazon boasts of 5,000 sellers in Karnataka, while Bengaluru is among the top-four metro markets in India.
