<p>The CCB police arrested six members of the notorious Irani gang and seized stolen jewellery and vehicles worth Rs 10 lakh.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The arrested have been identified as: Yasir Ali, 45 and Tekki Ali, 42, both from Thane district in Maharashtra; Hasheem Dhara Jafrey Irani, 26; SK Hassan, 24; Sajjath and Sadique Ali, all four from Guntakal, Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh.<br /><br />The kingpin of the gang Yasir Ali was residing at Bhiwandi, Thane in Maharastra. The other five suspects are all Ali’s relatives. Yasir and Tekki Ali were staying at a lodge at Hosur in Tamil Nadu. Others from Guntakal joined the two and stayed at the same lodge. They had stolen two bikes and a car that was used to commit the crimes.<br /><br />Their modus operandi was to identify women aged 50 and above, claim to be policemen and then rob them of their ornaments, said the police.<br /><br />Yasir Ali and Tekki Ali went in one bike, while others would follow them in another bike. They would waylay women on the way, tell them that there was a murder in the next lane and advise them to keep their ornaments safe. They would then collect their ornaments on the pretext of covering them in a paper and abscond.<br /><br />The suspects operated in Hulimavu, Whitefield and other areas, said the police.They adopted a similar modus operandi and indulged in robberies in major cities such as Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Cases have been registered.</p>
