BJP launches series of charges against AIADMK

Last Updated 29 March 2016, 20:10 IST

The BJP in Tamil Nadu launched a series of verbal attacks and charges against the AIADMK-led government for not using Central funds and implementing its welfare schemes in the region.

The attack comes in the wake of the ruling AIADMK not willing to show any inclination towards the BJP in its approach in forming an alliance for the upcoming elections.

This is also for the first time that the BJP, which was able to lead the NDA front in the state with key parties, including the DMDK, MDMK-led Vaiko and the PMK during last Parliament elections, is virtually isolated in the state by forcing themselves to contest alone.

Though the BJP made several desperate attempts to go with the AIADMK after Vijayakanth’s DMDK ditched them and joined the PWF, Jayalalithaa’s party has not evinced interest to respond to any request by the national party.

“This made them more frustrated and they started announcing baseless allegations against our party to gain political mileage,” a senior AIADMK leader told DH on Tuesday seeking anonymity.

Though the BJP’s apparent attempts to bring Union minister Prakash Javadekar for talks with Vijayakanth, the saffron party, too, approached the AIADMK during every national leader’s visit.
