JOIN USA 40-year-old man was killed after a lorry mowed him down while it was backing up. The incident took place in Peenya II Stage on Tuesday night.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Gangu Surya Narayana, a native of Visakhapatnam who was working in Southern Wood Packers for around 10 years.
On Tuesday around 11.30 pm, a wood-laden lorry had come to unload the wood at the unit. After unloading, the driver backed up the lorry in the reverse direction and Nar-ayana, who was standing behind the lorry, failed to notice the vehicle. The driver too did not see Narayana standing there and ran him over.
The security guard of the unit noticed Narayana stuck under the rear wheel and raised an alarm. The driver of the lorry fled with the vehicle without stopping. The others on the spot informed the police and shifted Narayana to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead, said the police.The Peenya Traffic police have registered a case and efforts are on to trace the driver.
