Seminar on tourism opportunities held

A seminar on ‘Tourism opportunities in Kodagu: Problems and Expectations’ was organised jointly by Field Marshal K M Cariappa College,  Economics department  and                   the Heritage Club  on Wednesday.

Speaking after inaugurating the seminar, Ponnampet Forest College Dean N A Prakash said “tourism should be promoted as an alternative to coffee in Kodagu.  The tourism industry will provide employment to the localites.  However, one should see that tourists do not pollute the environment.”

‘Confrontation’

Ponnampet Forest College Professor C G Kushalappa said “river Cauvery is worshiped in Kodagu. However, in the recent years, there is a clash between agriculture and tourism sector. More and more farm lands are used for the promotion of tourism.”  College principal Prof K A Erappa and others were present on the occasion.
