A complaint has been lodged against seven Indian Air Force men who allegedly assaulted a waiter and the manager of a bar-cum-restaurant in Tinsukia town and fled without paying their bill.

The  seven accused are from Chabua Air Base, under IAF Eastern Air Command, and they were in civilian clothes when they visited the bar.

An IAF team today visited the bar and paid the bill.

According to complaint, seven youths came in three motorbikes and had entered the bar at around 2.30 PM after which they ordered for food and drinks and they were served till 5 PM by a waiter.

On noticing at 4 PM that four of the seven had left, the bar manager gave their bill through the waiter with a request for the remaining three to pay it, the complaint said.

When the waiter made the request for payment, the three assaulted the waiter and the manager. When the latter came to control the situation, they fled on one motorcycle leaving behind their helmets, according to the report.

After the police complaint, an enquiry team from the Chabua Air Base led by an Air Force Police official investigated the incident today and checked the CCTV footage of the bar, Rava said.

On finding the bar owner's claim to be true after checking the CCTV footage, the IAF investigating team paid the bill of Rs 4720 run up by the seven men, police said.
