President's XI win Safi Darashah

President’s XI clinched the Safi Darashah tournament following their drawn encounter against Combined XI at the IAF Grounds here on Tuesday.

With the draw, both teams ended the tournament on seven points but President’s clinched the trophy based on better run-rate.

Shreyas Gopal was the star of the show as the all-rounder, resuming from his overnight score of 92, went on to score 149 off 188 balls, with 17 fours and a solitary maximum.

Sharath Srinivas (83) and K Gowtham (50) were the other notable contributors as President’s ended their innings on 436 for nine in 90 overs.

Abhimanyu Mithun put in a fantastic bowling effort for Combined, finishing with figures of seven for 53.

In their second effort, Combined were on 76 for no loss before the match ended in a draw.

Brief scores: At IAF: Combined XI: 111 all out in 46.3 overs and 76 for no loss in 16 overs (R Samarth 26 n.o., Mashooq Hussain 43 n.o.) drew President’s XI: 436/9 in 90 overs (Shreyas Gopal 149, Sharath Srinivas 83, K Gowtham 50; Abhimanyu Mithun 7-53). President’s XI: 3 points; Combined XI: 1 point.

At Aditya Turf: Vice President’s XI: 264 all out in 84 overs and 93/1 in 18.1 overs (Kayan Abbas 50 n.o., Prateeksh R 25 n.o.) drew Bangalore Zone: 232 all out in 80.5 overs (Pradeep Gangadhar 26, Rohith Gowda 31, Aditya Somanna 36; Likith Bannur 6-65). Vice President’s XI: 3; Bangalore Zone: 1.
