'ESI medical college in B'lore, Gulbarga'

He was speaking to press persons when Chief Minister Yeddyurappa visited his place to greet him. Kharge said that foundation stone for the construction of Bangalore hospital has already been laid. The work would start soon.

He said that earlier he had urged the former minister Oscar Fernandes to set up the hospital in Gulbarga. “He could not do it in his tenure. I will strive to implement it. Karnataka government should provide land for the project,” he said.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, who was at his residence immediately responded saying he would make land available for the hospital in Gulbarga.

Kharge said that he would make efforts to bring all necessary projects to the State as a Union minister. “I am thinking what all I can do to the State as Labour minister. My department will give due attention towards setting up ITI and polytechnic colleges,” he said.

He also appealed to the State government to give up the practice of alleging the Centre of step motherly treatment towards the State. “The government should speak after verifying the facts,” he said.

Training to youth

Kharge said that the Centre was contemplating on providing skill training to about 50 crore youths by the year 2022. The short-term courses would help in offering more employment opportunities in the coming days. The Prime Minister was also keen on making this programme a success and the government would spend Rs 30,000 crore towards the realisation of this goal in the next five years.
