After Madiwala and Kodichikkanahalli lakes, it is now Sarakki Lake on the verge of breaching its bund.
Residents had anxious moments on Saturday as the water level increased in Sarakki Lake and gushed into their houses. Sewage and polluted water from the lake forced some residents to leave their houses.
“Since Friday, the lake’s water level has been rising, but suddenly the water entered many houses in its surroundings,” said J Kumaraswamy, who has a commercial building there. The lake, spread across 84 acres, has two waste weirs but only one is functional. Civic agencies are scared of opening the second waste weir as it leads to the swollen Kodichikkanahalli lake, which has wreaked havoc in parts of BTM Layout and surrounding areas. 5 trees were uprooted on Saturday at Indiranagar, Srirampuram, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Halasuru and Vidyaranyapura.
