Acclaimed play ‘The Vaidya’s Oath’ will be performed at Jagriti Theatre in Whitefield. This play addresses the very alarming threat of Superbugs and their increasing resistance to antibiotics.

A tense and moving play, it is deemed as essential viewing for students of the sciences and medicine, clinicians and indeed for all who need to be sensitised to this world crisis. The story is about Dr Ajay, who has been demoted and given a punishment transfer from his own hospital in Allahabad to a Primary Health Centre in ‘Katkoot’ Utter Pradesh. Uma, his wife, is a Bangalore girl who can’t adjust to ‘Katkoot’.

Then she finds out she’s pregnant. The other characters in the play are Kamala, a local girl who has a baby boy afflicted with sepsis and Rahul, a seismologist who wants to be a stand-up comedian.

The play has had successful screenings at Jagriti, Ranga Shankara, National Centre for Biological Sciences, India International Centre in New Delhi and Christian Medical College, Vellore. The play has been written by Gautam Raja and has been directed by Jeff Teare.

The cast of the play includes Jimmy Xavier, Rebecca Spurgeon, Bhavik Bhandari and Yeshaswini Channaiah. The play will be performed on August 6 at 8 pm and on August 7 at 3 pm and 6.30 pm.
