Potholes galore in Jnanabharthi

Two weeks ago, the Public Works Department (PWD) asphalted the main road from Deepa Complex to Muddinapalya and in Visvesvaraya Layout linking ward numbers 129 and 72. Some stretches of the road in these places, however, have not been asphalted. Enquiries with the local corporator revealed that the stretch was not asphalted as it was under litigation. I request the BBMP commissioner to intervene in the matter and direct the officials concerned to asphalt the road as it has many potholes.

Why traffic curbs during VIP visits?
On August 27, the West of Chord Road in front of Iskcon Temple was closed for traffic between 3 pm and 8 pm for the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee and other dignitaries to celebrate the second billionth midday meal. While it was certainly a landmark event, the common man faced a lot of hardship owing to the closure of traffic on this busy road. The road is the only link between Yeshwantpur and Navarang theatre. Police must reconsider the need for lengthy traffic restrictions on such occasions.

Bescom bill payment issues
There is just one bill payment counter at the Bescom office on Sanjaynagar main road. There is usually a long queue and people of all ages have to stand in rain or shine.
Earlier, there was a payment kiosk that was very convenient for the public, but Bescom inexplicably removed it almost a year ago. If one drops a cheque, it takes almost a week to get the receipt. Bescom must reintroduce the kiosk.

Pathetic road in Chandapura
The road from Chandapura to Muthanallur Cross has been in a dilapidated condition for many years now. The road is hardly motorable for almost two kilometres, and it gets worse during the monsoon. People have to wade through craters and bumps to move on the stretch. Sheer negligence and indifference on the part of the authorities is hitting traffic. The BBMP must repair this stretch at the earliest.

Increase bus frequency
The frequency of BMTC buses, especially Volvo buses, from Hebbal to ITPL is very minimal, when compared to the Hebbal to Silk Board route. The ratio is 1:12, especially in the mornings. Why is this so? I appeal to the BMTC officials to look into this issue seriously and introduce more buses on the route.

Dumping yard poses problems
Mahakavi Kuvempu Road in Jnanabharathi 2nd Block (BDA layout) has become a dumping yard. The local residents, nearby hospitals and hotels lack civic sense and dump garbage recklessly. This creates a lot of problems for the residents as foul smell emanates from the place. Stray dogs drag the garbage onto the roads, inviting diseases. It is high time the authorities concerned take appropriate measures and solve the problem.

Speed-breaker required
There is an urgent requirement for a speed-breaker near Matha Amritanandamayi Arch on Kengeri Ring Road. Vehicles coming from Mariyappanapalya and intending to take a right turn near the Mutt arch to enter Jnanabharathi Layout face a tough time negotiating the movement of vehicles. In the interest of the public and motorists, I request the authorities to kindly look into the matter seriously.

Shortage of water supply
For several months now, my house is not getting even 10% of the regular supply of Cauvery water. I pay the BWSSB bills regularly and on time. I sincerely request the concerned officials to look into this issue and restore the
water supply.

Dysfunctional ATM
There is just one ATM in the whole of Gubbalala locality. State Bank of Mysore's ATM is situated on the road from Gubbalala Gate to Uttarahalli. There are two major issues related to this ATM. In the first place it is situated at a great height. Senior citizens find it almost impossible to reach it without falling.
The steep steps must have a railing at least to support the customer to reach the ATM. The other issue it that the ATM does not function most of the time.
Funnily enough, there is a watchman for this dysfunctional ATM.

Tilting transformer
A transformer and its supporting pole located opposite to plot No 56 on 4th main road in Peenya 3rd Phase are tilted towards the road and may fall down any moment as the soil has loosened during the rainy season. We request the Bescom authorities in Peenya 3rd Phase to look into the issue and re-instal the transformer to avoid any untoward incident.

Instal a garbage bin
The BBMP garbage collection van visiting Subhashnagar near KR Puram lake speeds away so fast that people have to literally run behind the van. We are unable to keep the garbage ready outside due to the dog menace. A garbage bin was installed a while ago which has now gone missing. The residents have no other option other than to dump the garbage outside in a corner from where it is regularly collected every morning. The waste that accumulates after the clearance gets disbursed everywhere, causing a lot of stink, increase in rodents and mosquitoes.
I request the BBMP to either install a garbage bin or instruct the van to wait for the residents until they dispose their garbage.
