BBMP blacklists ad firm for defaulting on Rs 7.5 cr

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has blacklisted advertisement company Alex Collections for defaulting on Rs 7.57 crore it owed to the civic agency for installing pole kiosks on MG Road, Residency Road, Airport Road and Sankey Road. The company will also face legal proceedings.

BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad passed an order to this effect on Tuesday. In 2008, the BBMP had permitted the company to instal 500 pole kiosks — flower pots with advertisements on poles — at prominent roads in the city for three years. After the term ended, the company applied for extension of three years but the state government turned it down.

During this period, pole kiosks remained intact on the roads, causing financial loss to the Palike. It also emerged that the company had installed 750 pole kiosks as against 500.
The BBMP sent a demand notice of Rs 7.57 crore to Alex Collections but the firm didn’t pay up. The Palike was forced to take tough action.
