An MA degree holder who never went to school

She never attended a single class in her life, but will be featured in the Limca Books of Records for her scholastic achievements.

Twenty-one year old Kiran Jhadiwal of Churu district of Rajasthan will be featured in the Limca Book Of Records-2017, for completing her studies without attending any classroom.

Kiran, who never went to a school or a college completed her education through self study, where one submits the admission form but studies at home.

Kiran, a resident of Ward 32 of Churu is much excited and confident after she received a letter which says, “She has been selected in the category of young achiever for 2017 edition of the Record Book.”

She told DH, "I have never visited any school, but I learnt thoroughly sitting in my home, in the company of toys, good books and my father. I have never attended any formal education but selflessly learnt things and prepared for 10th boards, 12th boards, graduation and PG exams."  She holds a postgraduate degree in Rajasthani literature.

"Stories of important people like Ramanujam, Abraham Lincoln and Bill Gates have made an impact on my mind. I follow their success story. I want to further pursue my research in the field of Rajasthani literature. More people should study Rajasthani language and preserve it", she said Kiran’s father, Sangmanand, told DH, "I have been looking after her since her childhood and fulfilling the role of her mother as well, who died when Kiran was six months old. She never wanted to go to school. But she was good at studies."

Educationist and social worker Charanjeet Dhillon, who works closely with children of all age group said, "Many bright children don't go to school but learn in company of good people and good books. She is an inspiration to thousands of girls who drop out every year. One should not stop studying even if you don’t prefer to take classroom studies".

Vijaya Ghose, editor of Limca Book of Records (LBR) confirmed that Kiran's story will be featured in 2017 edition. Limca Book of Records is an annual reference book published in India documenting human and natural records. The records achieved by humans are categorised in education, literature, agriculture, medical science, business, sports, nature, adventure, radio, and cinema.
