Jallikattu: trains cancelled, rescheduled

The ongoing agitation over the ban on Jallikattu has affected train operations with the South Western Railway cancelling, partially cancelling and diverting several trains, a statement from the South Western Railway said.

Accordingly, Karaikal – KSR Bengaluru Passenger (Train No 56513) has been cancelled.

The partially cancelled trains are: Chennai – KSR Bengaluru Double Decker Express (22625) is cancelled between Katpadi and Bengaluru; KSR Bengaluru – Chennai Double Decker (22626) between Bengaluru and Katpadi; Nagercoil Junction – KSR Bengaluru Express (17236) cancelled between Nagercoil and Tiruchirapalli; KSR Bengaluru – Karaikal Passenger (56514) cancelled between Omalur and Karaikal; KSR Bengaluru – Chennai Shatabdi Express (12028); KSR Bengaluru – Chennai Express (12608 & 12610) are cancelled between Katpadi and Chennai; Chennai – KSR Bengaluru Shatabdi Express (12027), Chennai – KSR Bengaluru Express (120609 and 12607) are cancelled between Chennai and Katpadi; Tirunelveli – Yeshwantpur – Dadar Express (11022) cancelled between Tirunelveli and Tiruchirapalli; Chennai – Yeshwantpur – Vasco-da-Gama Express (17311) is cancelled between Chennai and Katpadi.

The trains diverted are: Yeshwantpur – Howrah Express (12246), KSR Bengaluru – Pataliputra (12295); Sanghamitra Express and Bengaluru Cantonment – Kamakhya Express (12503) are diverted via Katpadi, Pakala and Renigunta.

Rescheduled trains: KSR Bengaluru – Kakinada Town Seshadri Express (17209) scheduled to leave at 11 am will leave at 10.40 pm.

On Friday, KSR Bengaluru – Chennai Brindavan Express (12640), scheduled to leave Bengaluru at 3.30 pm was rescheduled to leave at 10 pm due to late running of its pairing train.
