The volume of traffic on Albert Victor Road and Sayyaji Rao Road is very high as a stretch of  Bengaluru-Nilgiri Road between Hardinge Circle and Gun House Circle is closed for concretisation.

The stretch has been closed from Saturday and the City police have diverted the vehicular movement. To reach Hardinge Circle (Sri Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar Circle) from Gun House, the vehicles must take the Nanjangud Road through Mantap-Truck Terminal–Race Course Road, and the road in front of the Mysuru Zoo and Lokranjan Road.

Similarly, alternative roads have been identified to reach Gun House Circle to Hardinge Circle. The vehicles take Mirza Road–Lokranjan Road and move through Karanji Lake Road–Boulevard Circle, Lalitha Mahal Road and Race Course Circle and reach Gun House.

A police official said, to ensure free flow of traffic on the alternative roads, traffic flow has been made uni-directional. The vehicular movement from north to south on the road in front of Mysuru Zoo, between Lokranjan Road Junction and Race Course Road Junction, has been banned. Similarly, traffic movement from south to north on Karanji Lake Road from Race Course Boulevard and Lokranjan Road Junction has also been restricted.

According to traffic police, though the traffic has been diverted, vehicular movement is more and the authorities are thinking to divert the movement of KSRTC buses. The police have already provided alternative roads to private buses heading towards Nanjangud from the private bus stand.

Uday Kumar, a motorist, said, “Though there is traffic congestion, we need to support the development works. If we are not ready to endure inconvenience for a few days, we do not deserve good roads.”
