Biffes valedictory in heritage city promises to be grand affair

Ten awards to be given away for best movies screened during fest

 The stage is set for the valedictory ceremony of the ninth edition of Bengaluru International Film Festival (Biffes) 2017 scheduled to be held today at 6.30 pm on the Mysuru Palace premises.

Governor Vajubhai Vala will give away awards while Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will preside over the event. A host of people’s representatives, including PWD Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait, Mayor M J Ravikumar and chairman of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) Sa Ra Govindu will take part in the function.

To add colour to the event, a series of cultural programmes such as a dance performance by film artiste Nirupama Rajendra and troupe have been organised.
Awards

Ten awards will be given away for the best movies screened during the festival under four categories — Kannada cinemas, Kannada popular cinema, Indian cinema and Asia.

Entry

As the road in front of Mysuru Palace has been blocked due to concretisation works, visitors with passes can enter from Jayamarthanda Gate of the Palace through Varaha Gate.

Entry for VIPs and artistes has been arranged from Karikallu Thotti Gate. The authorities have made seating arrangements for 8,000 people.
