People's problems - DH

High road divider

A high road divider has been laid on 2nd Main Road, Vyalikaval, recently. There is no provision for pedestrians to cross the road. This is inconveniencing people, especially women and the aged. They are forced to walk the entire stretch of the main road to reach the other side.

Hollow trees pose danger
Out of the four trees planted by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on 14th 'A' Cross, 3rd Main Road, Vyalikaval, two have been eaten away by termites and have become hollow. The ageing trees are more than 40 feet tall and are standing precariously. The two trees may fall anytime and damage high tension electric lines, houses and endanger lives. Another tree is leaning dangerously and could damage adjacent buildings with strong winds and rain. I request the Palike forest cell to take action in the interest of the public.

KSRTC concession for senior citizens
While KSRTC extends concession to senior citizens on its non-AC buses like Rajahamsa, Vaibhav and Suhas, this facility is not available on AC buses like Airavat. This disparity should be removed and senior citizens should to be allowed to avail the concession on all KSRTC buses irrespective of the facilities provided.

Stray dog menace
The numbers of dogs is increasing in and around Upkar Residency Layout. A number of strays roam around the area. The Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme has not been conducted for many years. We request the BBMP to take up this issue on priority and implement ABC measures at the earliest.

Cow menace and traffic jams
Traffic jams on Kanakapura Road starting from Gubbalala Gate towards Banashankari bus stop have increased owing to Metro work. Apart from this, near Jaraganahalli towards Banashankari temple, stray cows have become a menace. They obstruct the movement of motorists and pedestrians.

People’s problems impact: traffic signal installed
A few weeks ago, I had through this column sought installation of a traffic signal on Devarachikkanahalli Main Road at Vijaya Bank Layout Junction near EK Super Market. This signal is now installed and working well. I would like to thank DH and traffic authorities for their pro-active support.
