Kalamandira’s walls wear a new look after being painted with desi art works. As part of ‘Vishwamanava dinacharane’, the Shanthinikethana Chitrakala College, District Art Teachers Association and Kannada and Culture department  organised a desi art camp at Kuvempu Kalamandira recently.

As part of the camp, the participants painted warli and folklore art on walls. Works on art in folklore and Ganapathi in theatre were the centre of attraction. Warli art form uses very basic graphic vocabulary of a circle, a triangle and a square.

Folklore celebrations, birds and women engaged in various activities now finds place on the walls of Kalamandira.

District Art Teachers Association president M S Nagaraj, teachers Satyaprakash, Salim Javid, Renukappa, Thotappa Gowda, Rajashekar, artists Lakshmi, Amrith Singh, Madhu Shilpa and Shanthinikethana Chaitrakala College Principal Vishwakarma Acharya were part of the team that painted the walls.
