JOIN USThe JD(S) is all set to function from its new building in the city soon. Rituals organised as part of the informal inauguration commenced on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, party supremo H D Deve Gowda’s family would conduct homas to mark the occasion. A formal inauguration would be held later this month.
MLC Ramesh Babu said MLA H D Revanna has been given the responsibility of organising the rituals as part of the inauguration. The first meeting of the party MLAs would be held at the new office on Wednesday.
The building, located on Platform Road, Seshadripuram, has three floors besides basement meant for parking. It has been built at a cost of nearly Rs 6 crore on a leased BBMP land measuring 80ft x 100ft. The lease is for 33 years and a nominal monthly rent has to be paid, a source said. The building is yet to get a name board.
Ramesh Babu said the JD (S) office would be the most modern among the party offices in the state. “Two halls have AC facility. A canteen is also going to function. Each wing of the party has been allotted a room. It is closer to the railway and bus stations in Majestic. It is adjacent to the Metro station,” he added.
He said a convention of the party workers would be held either on March 22 or 23 in Bengaluru to mark the inauguration of the office.
