Beautiful Begur: initiative for pro-people changes

Nearly 20 Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) of Begur came together on Sunday for the digital launch of their collective ‘Beautiful Begur Initiative’.

With the new initiative, residents of Ward 192 hope to join hands to make their locality a better place to live by ensuring basic civic amenities.

As part of the launch, a walkathon, cyclathon and marathon were organised at 6.30 am at the Megha school grounds on Begur Koppa road. More than 300 residents of the area, men, women, children and senior citizens, took part in the activities.

The website of the initiative was launched by the local MLA M Krishnappa and corporator M Anjinappa. The initiative is supported by Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road and, they conducted a free health camp and diabetic check. Aadhar card registration, voter ID registration were also done at the event.

The website of the initiative www.beautifulbegurinitiative.com was launched, which brings RWAs like that of Nobel Residency layout, Eagle Ridge apartments, Redwood apartments, together. The 500 strong team intends to secure drinking water facilities for their ward.

K Prasad, president of Nobel Residency Welfare Association said, “Our foremost demand is to secure Cauvery water for drinking purpose for our ward. We are tax-paying citizens but we are not getting our basic rights. Through this initiative, we want to join hands with the government and ask them to bring pro-people changes.”
