Electrified fence injures elephant

According to forest department officials, the 20-year-old elephant attempted to enter the field of Chikkasiddashetty by crossing the fence.

The land owner had illegally drawn power to the fence to prevent elephants from entering the field.

Forest department staff rushed to the spot. Dr Niranjan, a veterinarian is treating the animal. The department has put up a temporary pandal by using thin plastic sheets to provide shade to the injured jumbo.

Deputy Conservator of Forest Dr Hanumanthappa, Omkara division Forest Officer Santoshkumar visited the spot.
