Mercury drops after welcome showers

The Meteorological Department sources said the temperature had dropped to 23.4 degrees Celsius by 11.00 pm on Tuesday, a drastic fall from the 27.6 degrees Celsius recorded on Monday. The rainfall recorded was 1.8 mm. Though it drizzled for few minutes, the two-wheeler riders had a tough time manoeuvring the vehicles due to oil spill on the stretch between Mahatma Gandhi statue and Anil Kumble circle, till some sensible public sprinkled sand.

At the SBI circle on St Mark's Road dry seeds fallen from the huge tree turned the roads unmotorable. A senior assistant to a chartered accountant, Somasundar sustained injuries after his vehicle skidded and was rushed to the Bowring hospital.
