<p>The State Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval for the construction of a steel flyover at Shivananda Circle at a cost of Rs 19.85 crore. Land acquisition and other expenses will jack up the cost of the project to Rs 40 crore.<br /><br />The Cabinet decision comes close on the heels of dropping a steel flyover project between the Chalukya Circle to Hebbal flyover costing around Rs 1,800 crore following a public outcry. However, the Shivananda Circle steel flyover is much smaller, which is more of an overpass. <br /><br />Sources said the bridge will be 326 metres long with a carriageway width of 14 metres. It will connect commuters from Race Course Road towards Hare Krishna Road and the Railway underpass in Sheshadripuram. <br /><br />Shivananda Circle is the intersection of Hare Krishna Road with Kumara Krupa Road. M Venkata Rao Infra Projects has been assigned the project to complete it in a year from the date of commencement of project, said Palike sources. <br /><br />The Cabinet also decided to develop the Bagalur-Budigere Road as a two- lane road to connect Kempegowda International Airport at a cost of Rs 12.33 crore<br /><br />In another decision, the State Cabinet decided to allot the work of creating infrastructure for Indira canteens in 198 wards of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike limits to Krishnagiri-based KEF Limited. The company will build one kitchen and eight canteens in every Assembly constituency at a cost of Rs 28.5 lakh, the sources said. Indira canteens will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at affordable rates and are proposed to be launched on August 15.<br />DH News Service</p>
