A 35-year-old woman has accused her husband of raping her in Bharathinagar on Friday night.
The Bharathinagar police, who were alerted about a medico-legal case from Bowring Hospital on Saturday morning, visited the hospital and took the statements from the victim. The husband has been identified as Fazludin. However, the victim’s version of where the incident happened was not consistent, said an investigating officer.
According to the police, this is not the first time the couple has approached the police.In 2015, the victim had accused Fazludin of raping their three-year-old daughter.
A case of rape and offences under several sections of POCSO Act were registered against Fazludin at the Yelahanka New Town police station. However, the court acquitted him of all charges.
In 2016, Fazludin had lodged a complaint of jewellery theft against his wife. The case was registered at the Yelahanka New Town police station and a charge sheet was filed recently.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s complaint appeared to be in retaliation to the case filed by her husband. “She is not telling us the place where the offence took place and the time of the offence, her husband was in Kerala for treatment of an eye ailment,” said a senior police officer.
“However, we have taken up a case of rape and are investigating,” he added.
