JOIN USA tribal woman of Hirehalli B Colony Haadi was gang raped by a group of youths last week. Since that day she had been lying in her thatched house without any medical treatment. The incident came to light after her husband returned home from work in Kodagu.
The elders of the haadi held a panchayati and fixed a compensation of Rs 500 to be paid to the victim. Besides, the elders threatened her husband to not approach police.
Although, she was admitted at the government hospital for treatment, she never disclosed the incident to the doctors. However, the police who came to know about the incident have initiated a case against the accused.
The tribals in H D Kote go to the neighbouring Kodagu district in search of jobs and return home once in a week or fortnight.Only a few houses can be spotted in the haadis, that are located in remote areas in the forest.
