The City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths, on Monday, arrested the kingpin of the fake degree certificate racket.
The police have arrested Prajwal (28), and two others — Sagar (30) of Kolar and Menon (35) of Mahadevpura. According to the police, Prajwal, a resident of V V Puram, is an ex-employee of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). Prajwal lost his job after a few courses in the varsity were derecognised.
It may be mentioned that the police had arrested Kishan of Gokulam and Yashaswini recently. The police said, Prajwal, a BCom graduate, was serving as second division clerk in KSOU.
After he lost job, he indulged in illegal activities. He is said to be leading a luxurious lifestyle and owned swanky cars.
The accused used to create degree, post graduate and PU marks cards to sell them among students for a hefty sum. According to the police, the racket is active across the state, and two teams are working to nab the remaining accused.
