The Presidents Cup week was full of great memories. It is an event I will look forward to in 2019, when it returns to Melbourne. And let me share, this team has a lot of guys who have similar desires to come back and turn the tide.

This last one week and the preparation before that has been a lot of fun. I think we have a lot of fun when we are on the teams. You know, we try and keep the banter going, keep the mood light. You have to keep your spirits up, and there’s nothing like getting all that positive energy from all your team-mates.

Since 2015, when I first made the team I have made great friends across the line. It was great for Jordan (Spieth) to come and congratulate on my fightback against Kevin (Kisner) in singles to halve the match. Others like Rickie (Fowler) and many others have become friends on the PGA Tour and a week like this gets our competitive juices flowing and makes the relationships stronger.

I have been lucky to have Nick Price as my captain for two years. While I made the team last time as an automatic selection, this time he made a bold move and picked me as one of his two picks (my buddy Emiliano Grillo being the other).

There was a lot of talk and debate on my pick in particular, but Nick put faith in me. He has been a great guide and a fine person and great golfing mind to learn from.

I have to thank him for helping me turn things around. After the loss in fourballs on Friday, things were looking tough. But Nick put rookie Si Woo Kim, a great player in the making, with me.

And Si Woo carried me for most of the match for 15 holes, before I could get my own over the last three holes. That meant first points for both us in Presidents Cup – his first and my second. That felt good.

I cannot be thankful enough to Nick for that faith and I am glad I could repose that with another half point in singles, coming back from a tough situation at 2-down with two holes to go.

It’s been a great week with great memories and I am sure we are all already looking at Melbourne in two years’ time, but before that it is time to go back to the Tour events before 2017 runs out on us.
