Flooding waters wash away forest guard

A forest guard attached to Holalkere taluk Forest Range was washed away in flood in Hoshattihalla near Doddiganahal village in the taluk on Monday night due to heavy rains that lashed various parts of the district.

The district recieved moderate to heavy rains on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ramadas(55), a forest guard at D Makaripura forest area limits in Holalkere range.

The incident took place when he was crossing the Hosahattihalla on his way home. He got caught in the flood and washed away.

As per official records, Eshwaragere of Hiriyur taluk has registered 99.4 millimetres of rain on Tuesday overnight which is said to be a record in the taluk in recent years. Water brimming over from Eshwaragere lake after a decade according to Tahasildar J C Venkateswaraiah.

Hiriyur has recieved 22 millimetres of rains, Babbur registered 36 millimetres, Ikkanur 70.2 millimetres of rains, Javanagondanahalli 24 mm of rains and Sugur 16.1 millimetres of rains.
