JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda on Saturday said he will not tolerate any mischief from youngsters like his grandson Prajwal Revanna, who, according to him had a bright future in the party.

“Prajwal Revanna’s statements before the media seem to provide entertainment value for certain people. I will not condone it. While I am adept at shaping careers of young politicians by grooming them, I am equally capable of shunning them from party affairs if they play mischief,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the executive committee meeting of the party’s youth wing. He, however, said nobody could stop Prajwal from entering electoral politics.

‘Opportunity for all’
“There are several youngsters in the party like him, including Nikhil Gowda (son of H D Kumaraswamy). Everybody will be given opportunities at the right time. This time, winnability is one of the criteria for ticket distribution.”

Gowda also reiterated that Kumaraswamy’s wife Anitha Kumaraswamy would not be fielded from Channapatna.

Earlier, addressing youth workers, he conceded that his party had not exploited the social media.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi became a global icon thanks to social media. JD(S) has lagged behind. The party should make use of all modern tools available,” he added.

Youth wing president Madhu Bangarappa said that similar executive meetings would be organised in Uttara Kannada, Hyderabad Karnataka and Mumbai Karnataka regions.

He said the party had adopted six resolutions, including massive conventions, programmes and initiatives under the banners ‘Mane Manege Kumaranna’, ‘Karnatakakke Kumaranna’, ‘Karnatakakke Pradeshika Paksha’, and ‘Annadatana Kanneeru’.
