Last Updated 24 October 2017, 21:40 IST

There is no improvement in the health of Abdul Karim Telgi, THE kingpin of the multi-crore stamp paper scam, who was admitted to Victoria Hospital’s trauma care centre a week ago, doctors at the hospital said on Tuesday.

A press statement from the hospital said, “Presently, he is critical due to multi-organ failure. He is on ventilator and other life support systems. His condition has not shown any improvement and prognosis is poor.”

Speaking to DH, Balaji Pai, special officer of the centre, said, “I prepared a press statement after being flooded with calls on Monday night, enquiring about Telgi’s condition. I received more than 46 calls again on Tuesday.” He, however, refused to disclose details of Telgi’s condition.

Telgi was convicted in 2006 for printing fake stamp papers. The scandal had rocked the state in early 2000. He has diabetes, hypothyroidism, and hypertension, besides a host of other ailments, a prison source said.
